The Rev. Dr. Jay D.Carr has pastored congregations throughout northern Illinois since 1984. He has degrees in music, theology and pastoral leadership, and received his doctorate from McCormick Theological Seminary. He has preached in Africa, India, Russia,England, Scotland, Austria, Mexico, Canada and throughout the United States. Before coming to New Lenox, Jay was the founding pastor of Hilltop Ministry Center, the Northern Illinois Conference’s first Harvest 2020 congregation. Jay and his wife Brenda have two grown sons, Jason and Josh. Jay and Brenda are both originally from the Joliet area and are excited to be making their home in New Lenox.

The Rev. Matthew Krings ~ Associate Pastor

Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Matthew received his Bachelor of Elementary Education from Central College, in Naperville, IL (a United Methodist related institution). He was very active in campus ministry and spent his summers leading camps and local church VBS programs through the college’s New Vision ministry team. He then worked for 10 years as a Youth Pastor ~ first at Orland Park UMC and then at First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights. He met his wife, Megan, at a youth rally, which they both attended as Youth Pastors.  Matthew was employed by Presbyterian Homes, a senior living facility while attending Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Matthew’s varied work experiences have prepared him for ministry with all ages. He will work closely with our Senior Pastor to perform a wide array of ministerial duties ~ his highest priorities will be working with our children and family ministries ~ leading our Confirmation program, as well as spending time engaging in pastoral care, preaching and worship.

Wendy Miller ~ Business Manager

Wendy Miller has been a part of our staff since 2004. She has an AS degree in Business Management and a Certificate in Banking.  Wendy is a Certified Member of the Professional Association of United Methodist Connectional Structure (PAUMCS), having completed certification class in 2014. Certification is sponsored by the General Council on Finance and Administration of the UMC in Nashville, Tennessee.  She is the office liaison to the Communications Committee, Administrative Board and Board of Trustees, is Membership Secretary and handles accounts payable.  Wendy also holds the following positions in and connected with our church:  Treasurer of the United Methodist Women of New Lenox, Treasurer of the Northern Illinois Conference United Methodist Women, Treasurer of the Northern Illinois PAUMCS and is on the National PAUMCS Professional Training & Standards Committee.  She was on the steering committee of the  NIC PAUMCS, which hosted the National PAUMCS Conference in 2017 in Rosemont, Illinois and continues to be a part of the steering committee for further education and training for our Connectional Staff here in the Northern Illinois Conference.   She is married to Steven Miller, is mother to two grown children and has one grandchild.

Ann Reeves ~ Administrative Assistant

Ann Reeves joined our staff in October, 2015.  She has held office positions for physician’s offices and most recently for Lincoln-Way High School District 210, from where she retired in June 2015.  Ann is a very warm, welcoming person of faith in our church office and is very active in the United Methodist Women, is the Finance Secretary and is on the Children’s Ministry Council.  Ann is the mother of two grown sons and one grandchild.

WEIRMAN-KAREN-205J. Michael Weirman ~ Music Director

Michael Weirman has many years here as the Music Director, in charge of the Chancel Choir, Celebration Bell and Herald Bell Choirs.  Michael brings his musical talents into our worship setting  through not only the choirs, but also leading an all church orchestra once a year, bringing in special music from within our congregation in the form of vocal and instrumental ensembles, Easter and Christmas cantatas enhanced with a live orchestra and more.  Michael is married to Karen, our church organist, and has one grown son, Chris.

Karen Weirman has been our organist and pianist for many years.  Her talent is always enhanced by her warm, smiling personality. Her musical talent helps to bring your heart and mind into an attitude of worship each Sunday.  She also plays for weddings and funerals.  Karen is married to Michael, our Music Director, and has one grown son, Chris.

Tom Burns brings an inspirational energy to the music of our 10:20 Contemporary Worship Service, held at 10:20 a.m. the 1st & 3rd Sunday of each month in the Chapel.  This “Come As You Are” worship is designed for those that are looking for an alternative worship experience.

Chris Hagen

Christianna Hagen ~ Director of the Youth Choir, Celeste Choir and Cherub Choir

Christianna Hagen works so beautifully to bring out the talent in children and youth of all ages.  She allows all children to have a bit of the spotlight throughout the year, no matter their music ability.  Each child is special to her – just as they are to our Heavenly Father, and her love for them and for music shows in their performances each month during worship.  Christianna is married to Richard Hagen and has four children, Cara, Michaela, Miles and Dane.

Mary LuksetichMary Luksetich ~ Children’s Choir Accompanist

Mary Luksetich brings that special touch to the music presented by our Youth and Children’s Choirs by accompanying their many practices and running their recorded music in the Audio/Visual loft when needed as well.  She and Christianna make for a great team to build up the music experiences of our youth and children here at UMC of New Lenox.  Mary is married to Daniel Luksetich and has two children, Leah and Ben.

74640528Mary Trent ~ Majestic Bell Choir Director

Mary Trent works with beginner bell ringers to teach them how to make beautiful music as a group.  This group mainly consists of 5th grade – 8th grade students, but also includes anyone that would like to learn to play bells.  She is a wonderful woman with a lot of talent and is able to bring beginner ringers to our worship once a month from September through May.  Mary is married to Ray Trent and has two grown daughters, Jennifer and Christina.
